Learn to Create Intuitive Networks at FusionStorm’s Cisco DNA Lab

FusionStorm has established a demonstration lab in our Newark Integration Center to give customers hands-on experience with Cisco’s Digital Network Architecture (Cisco DNA). The lab features a suite of hardware, software and services that enable robust testing and simulation to establish proof of concept (POC) and proof of value (POV) for a variety of use cases.

What is Cisco DNA?

Cisco DNA is a software-driven platform that integrates networking software with virtualization, automation, analytics and cloud. This provides the basis for a highly automated and digital-ready network that will help organizations boost innovation, reduce costs and lower risk. It also dramatically streamlines operational tasks through drag-and-drop provisioning, automatic device discovery, proactive troubleshooting, immediate remediation guidance and fast network segmentation.

What is in the lab?

Our Cisco DNA Lab is designed to replicate an enterprise network so that customers can conduct real-time demonstrations of the platform for a variety of specific use cases. The setup is built with Cisco networking hardware and software, including the DNA Center appliance, switches, routers, wireless access points and wireless controller. In addition to physical infrastructure, the lab also allows access to the DNA platform through Cisco dCloud virtual demonstration and lab cloud services.

How does it work?

We help customers gather test requirements, plans and documentation, and design POC and POV testing plans. Then we’ll go over the details and discuss critical aspects of the project in a design review session. We also provide engineering expertise during the demo.

Why does it matter?

Inadequately tested configuration changes, updates and new services or technologies can expose customers to a variety of risks. By providing live demonstrations, FusionStorm’s Cisco DNA Lab can help customers get familiar with new technologies and understand their impact without putting the production environment at risk.

The lab replicates a typical enterprise customer’s network, with a focus on key elements of the Cisco DNA portfolio. These elements include:

DNA Center

This appliance provides a centralized management dashboard for complete control of the network. Full automation capabilities for provisioning and change management are enhanced with intelligent analytics that pull telemetry data from everywhere in the network. Any problems with network, application or device performance are immediately flagged, and instant remediation guidance saves hours of IT troubleshooting.

Catalyst 9000 Switches

The Catalyst 9000 portfolio was built from the ground up for the new realities of the digital era, centered on the demands of mobility, cloud, IoT and security. These switches can operate as part of a single fabric for faster, more secure network access. By automating provisioning and maintenance operations, the Catalyst 9000s minimize errors, improve uptime and reduce operational costs.

Cisco DNA Security

Security features embedded throughout the network utilize industry-leading machine learning and behavioral modeling to quickly identify and mitigate threats. NetFlow data generated by network devices is analyzed to detect and identify threats using solutions such as Cisco Stealthwatch, Identity Services Engine (ISE), and Cisco Umbrella cloud-based security. Cisco DNA also allows IT to take instant action by directing Cisco TrustSec to rapidly contain a threat right from the Stealthwatch management console.

Software-Defined Access

SD-Access automates policy enforcement from the edge to the cloud, slashing the time
and effort required for day-to-day tasks such as configuration, provisioning and troubleshooting. Field trials and internal testing show network provisioning time is reduced by 67 percent, issue resolution is improved by 80 percent and security breach impact is reduced by 48 percent.

Network Data Platform and Assurance

This powerful analytics platform efficiently categorizes and correlates the vast amount of data running on the network and uses machine learning to turn it into predictive analytics, business intelligence and actionable insights delivered through the DNA Center Assurance service.

Mobile Support

Gartner analysts say nearly two-thirds of enterprises expect desktop computers will soon be replaced by mobile devices connected via the wireless LAN. The Cisco DNA platform can accommodate this shift with Cisco Aironet 3800 Series Wi-Fi access points and 3504 Wireless Controllers, which support the new 802.11ac Wave 2 standard.

Using the Lab

FusionStorm’s Cisco DNA lab will allow customers to access the DNA platform through FusionStorm’s on-premises lab infrastructure and Cisco‘s dCloud, a virtual demonstration and lab cloud service. FusionStorm engineers will mentor customers as they test and run POV and POC demos for the following use cases:
