How FusionStorm is Setting Out to Redefine Employee Wellness Programs

At FusionStorm, we are taking our population health and employee well-being seriously. One problem we identified early on is that most corporate challenges or initiatives don’t work for everyone and there isn’t enough personalization within them; there isn’t a one size fits all approach to motivating people to stay healthy, and we understand that.

You may have read our company blog from last week where we talked about being named a “Healthiest Employer Finalist” in the 2018 Healthiest Employers® of the Bay Area Awards, presented by Sequoia Consulting Group. Improving the health and well-being of our employees has been a major focal point for us as a company, and we were honored to be acknowledged for our contributions to employee population health. For us, it reinforced that we’re on the right track.

In the past year, the FusionStorm HR team has spearheaded several initiatives aimed at creating a positive and healthy workplace for our employees. Our goal was to go beyond the traditional corporate population health programs and develop programs that were both meaningful and personal to our employees.

Building upon the idea that it was time for a much-needed change in the way companies support their employees’ health goals, we created our Employee Wellness Committee to give our team a forum where they could tell us exactly what they’re looking for when it comes to creating a healthier workplace and lifestyle. This committee has been crucial in helping us deliver the newest and most innovative programs to our team. It has shown us that all companies should be engaging their employees more and we hope it proves to our own FusionStorm team that we are dedicated to their overall well-being.

Additionally, we wanted to encourage our team to take their health initiatives outside of the workplace and into their daily lives. With that idea came the creation of our philanthropic program which supports any employee interested in participating in an athletic charitable event. We’re proud to say that this year alone FusionStorm has donated to 56 organizations, with 28 of those being fitness related!

We believe that another huge component of an overall healthy lifestyle lies in giving back to others. Therefore, we encourage our employees to donate their time and skills to organizations that need them most. This year FusionStorm has organized company-wide volunteer initiatives with Habitat for Humanity, St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, and Toys for Tots. It’s been amazing to see how many FusionStormers have jumped at the opportunity to give back to their communities.

Our HR team strives to support our employees well beyond the hiring stages. While we understand the importance of finding and recruiting top talent, it’s equally as important to us that we create a one-of-a-kind company culture that makes our team want to grow with us and be part of our family for years to come.
